Hand Embroidery Quilts

I love hand embroidery work and they make beautiful quilts!  This quit was made by a 80 plus year old  and she said this was her mom’s pattern. She only had 48 blocks of the state birds and flowers.  I asked why only 48 and she said, “that was all the patterns her mom had.”  Women are so much fun!  She admits she is not a quilter but she wanted to use the blocks up she embroidered.  She said she flips the back fabric to the front for the binding because that was what her mom did.  I explained the binding is the first to wear and it would be best to attach binding strips.  I did cut her strips and sew them together for her, but in the end, it is her quilt and she will finish it her way.  She wanted polyester batting and she would not budge on that either. It turned out beautiful!  Hope this has inspired you to get out your embroidery work and finish a quilt!
